Okay, here goes my half thought out analogy…
Let’s say allistics are iOS or Windows. Let’s say autistics are…some version of Linux…
iOS and Windows both say, “Look! I can connect to an ipod and run itunes! Wee! I’m so wonderful!”
“Hey you over there, computer running Linux, pull up itunes. Everyone can do it! Itunes! Now!”
Linux: “How about Banshee? I prefer to play music with Banshee!”
Windows/Mac: “No! It HAS to be itunes or it’s not REAL valid music. Hrmph.”
Linux: “K….lemme go download Wine…install that…download itunes…guh, this is taking a long time. Move over some music…there! Look! I’m playing music on itunes, happy?”
Windows/Mac: “Ha! Not a chance! That took way too long! It should just work seamlessly with your OS, but it doesn’t. That must mean your OS is defective.”
Linux: “But I can play every single song that you can with my own music player application. It’s faster if I just use Banshee.”
W/M: “Don’t care! It’s not The Proper Order of Things. It’s unnatural… “
Aaannndd, this is why I support neurodiversity. I’m not a broken Apple product. I run Linux and I’m very happy with that thankyouverymuch. A new/different operating system is only scary insofar as it is unknown. Get to know me and you’ll find that my system runs smoothly, and has some real strengths that more common operating systems just can’t offer.
